Definition of a space connection

A "space connection" means your business idea either utilizes existing space technologies or contributes innovations specifically for space applications.

We categorize space connections into two main groups:

• Downstream: Startups using space-derived technologies such as satellite data, satellite navigation, or satellite communications to create new commercial solutions here on Earth. Examples could include agricultural startups using satellite imagery for precision farming, or logistics companies using satellite navigation for improved route efficiency.

• Upstream: Startups developing new technologies, systems, or components specifically designed for space exploration, satellite systems, launch vehicles, or human space missions. Examples could include material science companies creating advanced lightweight materials for spacecraft, or software firms developing innovative satellite control systems.
